Pretty & Cute Haul

Every time I take some random trip to ASIA I always make sure that I check out some beauty products. And find myself fascinated with the ever eye catching packaging. For some reason, most features Asian cartoon characters and a spectrum of pastel colors. Of course the popular color is baby pink. Pretty and Cute is on online based store, owned and operated by my good friend Janie, which specializes is bring popular Asian makeup and accessories trends from japan, Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Korea.

My very first P&C haul was actually the popular Dolly Eyes Circle Lenses many moons ago, along with the popular Taiwanese Shadow pens, that I love using on my ‘Prom’ clients as base. And of course, ‘EnKorinne” loves the KAPOW! Factor of the Dolly Eye lenses and sported them in a few of her videos. Sadly P&C discontinued sale on these lenses and focused more on cosmetic products and accessories.

And on that note, Janie sent some new things for me to play with and consider tutorials on. I am quite excited to play with these products, and I (or EnKorinne) will most likey use these at some point in a video.

Anastasia Illumin8

Although they are more popular for their line of amazing brow products, Anastasia of Beverly Hills started branching out to making eye-brightening eyeshadows. One palette they recently launched is the Illumin8 palette with Youthful Synergy Complex. This palette contains 8 colors, and a dual end brush, in a metallic silver palette with mirror. There are 3 different palettes to choose from, and the one I’m reviewing is palette #1.
Its very rare to find eyeshadows these days that promises drastic and dramatic improvement to the lid area. And with Youthful Synergy Complex, this palette also shows clinical study on how the product visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The Cardboard Packaging has a flip card that shows their clinical study result, along with a ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture. The main palette is metallic silver, with Anastasia’s Monogram. Even though it is sleek looking, one down side is that it’s a finger print magnet. So expect to always wipe the palette if you hate finger print marks like I do.
There are 8 colors, all in pink tones, and 1 color is matte. They apply nicely, and has a very silky feel to it. I find that they all blend very well. The darker colors are very pigmented while the pastel-like colors are great subtle washes. The combination definitely gives a nice texture to a finish eye look.

What I’m impressed at the most are the ingredients. Its not the typical ingredients found in most eyeshadows (which are mostly powders and colorants). There are a number of leaf extracts infused to each shadow color. These eyeshadows contains: Althaea Officinalis Leaf Extract (Marshmallow Plant), Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract (Lemon Balm Plant), Vaccinium Myrtillus Leaft Extract (Bilberry), Camelia Sinensis (Camelia/Chinese Tea), Alaria Esculenta (dabberlock seaweed/ winged kelp) and Sea Whip (Gorgonia Coral)

One warning though, color #8 (the dark purple) contains calcium sodium borosilicate. This can cause excessive drying to the skin if you are sensitive to this ingredient. I love that this warning is printed throughout the primary and secondary packaging.
